Jordan Winery Chardonnay 2012
|Appellation||Russian River Valley|
Decanter "A style very close to Burgundy. Abundant aromas of fresh apple and pear, laced with intriguing hints of lemon custard, flinty and a gentle touch of integrated vanilla and spices from French oak. The mid-palate is creamy and complete, with a firm acidity that carries through the persistent finish. "
Wine EnthusiastThe winery is making new strides by finding the best sites for its wines rather than trying to grow everything on its estate. This Chardonnay is a case in point. High in acidity and low in oak influence, it offers restrained layers of tropical mango, lemon and ginger snap.
Wine AdvocateThe 2012 Chardonnay is raised in Burgundy barrels. It has an orthodox, creamy, slightly buttery bouquet that does not own the energy of the unoaked version, but is nicely controlled. The palate is nicely balanced with a rounded, marmalade tinged opening, plenty of lime zest and apricot fruit and the oak remaining well-behaved and out of the limelight on the finish. This is well-crafted. Drink now-2017.
